Connecting people and homes through smart design
A San Francisco-based entrepreneur envisioned an app to help people find compatible flatmates and available accommodations. She conducted preliminary research, surveys, and independent Figma designs before handing the concept over to our team for refinement and implementation.

Challenge
The goal was to take the founder’s initial concept and elevate it—improving usability and creating a seamless UX without overhauling the existing branding. One of the main challenges was combining two types of profiles, people and accommodations, into a single interface while avoiding a dating-app vibe, despite using swipe-based interactions. We also focused on creating a clear visual hierarchy and intuitive navigation for first-time users, with room to incorporate AI features that suggest compatibility.
Functionality centered on a swipe-based matching system for users and available homes. Profile cards highlighted essential information—name, age, photos, “About Me,” and accommodation details—while listings allowed users to showcase spaces for potential flatmates, similar to Airbnb. AI-powered compatibility generated a “Home DNA” profile by asking questions like “What is home to you?”, helping users find their ideal living match.
Solution
Over six weeks, a two-person team transformed the founder’s concept into a polished, user-friendly experience. We started with a UX analysis to pinpoint usability improvements, then validated flows and expectations through user interviews. Interactive wireframes tested ideas and guided refinements, leading to a high-fidelity UI design with scalable components. A minimal branding kit (logo, colors, and typography) ensured visual consistency without overcomplicating the design.
Outcome
The resulting app is smooth, UX-friendly, and intuitive, successfully integrating profiles of people and accommodations in a single platform. Users can swipe through potential flatmates or available spaces seamlessly. The AI-powered compatibility feature adds personalized recommendations, producing a “Home DNA” profile to match users with the right living situations.
